KEY FACTS

In its annual publication, 'Key Facts', the Department publishes key statistical indicators ranging over the whole of the education sector. The information provided includes the numbers of pupils and students, the number of institutions, the number of staff and the pupil-student staff ratios in schools, further education and higher education institutions; the destination and qualifications of school leavers; the percentage of pupils remaining at school beyond the statutory leaving age and the number of new entrants to higher education; the number of awards made to students pursuing under-graduate and post-graduate courses; unit costs and expenditure by educational sector (nursery, school meals and milk, libraries, museums and arts etc.).
