Westminster By-Election (NI) - West Tyrone
Thursday 3 May 2018

Introduction

The West Tyrone by-election was called following the resignation of the sitting MP Barry McElduff (SF) on 15 January 2018. McElduff resigned as a result of public pressure over a controversial video on his Twitter account. Following his resignation there was some comment about a possible pact between the unionist parties to support an agreed candidate to oppose SF. However, no agreement was reached and the DUP and UUP contested the election.
