Introduction

The following are the (draft) results of the 1977 District Council (local government) elections held in Northern Ireland on Wednesday 18 May 1977. The elections were held to elect 526 councillors to the 26 District Councils of Northern Ireland. Voting in the election was by Proportional Representation (PR) using the Single Transferable Vote (STV) system.
