Description:	On the twenthieth anniversary of the Paratroopers killing thirteen civilians, Peter Taylor re-explores what happened on that day. Opens with still photo and widow recollections then Lt. Col. Derek Wilford won't accept the shot men were innocent. He justifies his comments. Old film of Derry in 1972 with it's IRA no go areas of Free Derry and constant stoning by youths of troops. Col. Wilford says Paratroopers wouldn't be aunt sallys. Platoon Sergeant comments, Wilford/Sergeant on getting orders to sort out rioters. Stormont banned march, IRA withdrew it's weapons. CRA man, Dr Roy McClean, recalls good humour of march, then Denis views with old film clips of singing. Then McKinney (IDA) recalls her husband Gerry leaving for march. The army had a secret plan from Robert Ford, to teach hooligans a lesson, old film clip. Paratroopers (MISSING) on their plans and the reason for it. Then Col. Wilford asked boss what if there is shooting? Sergeant Major on his orders, troopers on what he expected. At 4'O'Clock recalls seeing what happened. Wilford on this significance, then paratroopers fired at D. Donaghey and passerby. Old film and still. Wilford/McCellan held until seven minutes past four, then paratroopers told to go in. Sergeant Major recalls - move, move, move, he saw tense paratrooper lock his weapon. Old film clip of troops on move in pigs. Platoon Sergeant recalls arrest operation. Film clip/stills, he says he heard multiple weapons firing at them from flats. Wilford comments on his reaction, more film clips, local priests heard no shots, did paratroopers hear their own warning shots, they say no possible. More shooting clips, Fr Ed Daly recalls boy being shot, Jack Duddy. Still photo, then hankie scene on film. He says Duddy was murdered. Daly recalls seeing OIRA men with handgun (still photo), he explains reaction. Five died in Rossville flats, six other killed at rubble, Denis Bradley recalls his feelings. Sergeant Major told there were gunmen on barricades, Bradley says no. Paratroopers had new they went in too far. Wilford denies this. Sergeant Major says it was now chaos, no control. Bradley saw firing from the hip. Film clip of dead man. Dr Ray Clean remembers wishing he had rifle, eyewitness, Denis recalls seeing man shot dead, he says nobody around him was armed. The last four men killed were shot in Glenfada Park, five others wounded, here Fianna boy, Gerry Doherty was shot, his friend Denis recalls, still photo, then Gerry McKinney killed. Film clips of bodies going to ambulances. Dr R. McClean recalls still photos. Platoon Sergeant recalls they felt job well done. Colonel Wilford says he owned Bogside and recalls indecision on what to do. General Ford asked him what was he going to do. Wilford withdrew troops. Sergeant Major was concerned, he felt there was a breach of discipline. Wilford recalls how he felt when he heard the casualty list. Ida McKinney recalls hearing of Gerry's death. Gruesome film clips. Dr R. McClean on post mortems, then Denis Bradley on the hustled tones. Film clips of aftermath, Widgery Inquiry concludes three victims handled guns, paratroopers exonerated, (MISSING) on paratroopers views, then Bishop E. Daly on 'murder'. Wilfor says dead not innocent, because his soldiers can't be wrong. He rejects use of word innocence. Film clip of G. McKinney dying, he was shot with his hands in the air, his family reject allegation he was gunman. Paratroopers adjective can't account for this man's death. Dr. McClean on forensics of McKinney case, eye witnesses told the truth. In Glenfada Park, Widgery said soldiers bordered on the reckless, Soldier H mentioned, Sergeant Major recalls Paratroopers who fired more then he had been issued soldier H he says, he was spoke to severely, Sergeant Major didn?t believe he was firing at gunmen. Gerry Donaghey's body was carried into house. Film clip on him, no nail bombs. Donaghey taken to hospital but army took it to their base, army doctor found nothing, yet the army photed his body with nail bombs, bombs were planted. Bishop Daly on the injustice of cover-ups which was followed by Denis Bradley views, he says after this, the young joined IRA. Denis recalls what he did, he joined the IRA. He got sixteen years for trying to kill soldiers. All six friends with him on Bloody Sunday joined the IRA, all went to jail. Ida McKinney recalls her grief. Sergeant Major now thinks only two or three were gunmen, he feels guilty about effects of Bloody Sunday's, future violence down to that day. Wilford comments on what Bloody Sunday done to him, he says he anti-war, anti-politicians, he believes withdrawing troops would help, Boody Sunday was a tragedy.

In August 1989 an operation (MISSING) planned against the Apprentice Boys Parade on Derry's walls. On August 11th Flood contacted handlers, RUC then arrested M. Molloy and D. Doherty with bomb, M. Molloy tells what happened that night and he says Flood made the bomb. IRA now suspected Flood and the Government Court papers helped confirm their suspicions. In January 1990 the IRA attempt a copy cat bomb, this kills C. Love, a Sinn Fein member. In June 1990, Flood tells her handlers of a bomb being made and three men are arrested, now the IRA was convinced Flood was the informer, they arrest him and take him to South Armagh for seven weeks. On July 26th 1990 his body is found, his widow Elizabeth recalls events, Pat McArt comments on Security Forces surveillance problems, one in nine IRA men in Derry was a double agent, severely weakening the organisation. Description:	MI5 / UFF double agent Brian Nelson reviewed in collusion report. The biggest intelligence scandal in twenty years of Northern Ireland's dirty war, then Brian Nelson case. Begins with March 1988 Loyalist attack in Milltown, then the killing of five Catholics in Ormeau Road Bookmakers, the Loyalists now kill more people than the IRA, but their arms came from South Africa. The British army own agent Nelson set to deal up even though they knew of the deal. Programme uses notes from Nelson's diary. There are many other questions, he was involved in ten murders and many attempted murders over three years, allowed even encouraged by army intelligence, then deal done at his trial is profiled, his sister comments on the men. Then a profile of his past with old film clips of UDA parades and his early conviction in 1974 for kidnapping and torturing a blind Catholic man, he turns against UDA and became arrmy informant, he became UDA intelligence officer and was told not to kill anyone, his army chief, Colonel J. reconstruction at his trial. Sinn Fein member, Harry Fitzsimmons set up. He told army but 'big eagle' done the shooting, the RUC say army withheld evidence of killing from them. John Hermon comments, Carol Creighton his sister tells of Nelson going to Germany but the FRU wanted him back, they broke the rules however Herman views, MI5 didn?t want him back but Military intelligence pushed it. Nelson's views in his diary then his sister recalls. Nelson information stopped killing of Adams, his views are quoted in his diary. But Nelson became Chief UDA intelligence officer, he says army gave him select list, he says handler give him photo montage, he created list of one hundred and seventy targets, holding his own research, he was bought a taxi, military intelligence didn?t stop him handing out his targets list. Herman comments on this lack of control. A friend of Nelson's recalls briefing given to UDA leaders, hit know Republicans, not innocent Catholics, was the army hoping to kill the right people. Handlers helped him stalk IRA operation volunteers, Nelson got army to take photo of house, this is helping murder, the army also gave addresses of three or more IRA men for the UDA to kill. Trevelyn sends in two thousand troops. Kelly tells of their role. Next the role of domestic English politics and the famine are explored. The corn law repeal, the laissez faire economics, report from London Times in 1848, then from Punch, a letter from Ireland to Russell, 1848 Mitchel/O'Brien atetmpted rebellion, gave Trevelyn opportunity to attack Irish. Description:	Opening remarks are from London Times, "they're going, they're going" as paper gloats over the exodus of Irish people, it was all for the advancement of civilisation says the Times. Then Lord Darby in 1845 views Kelly profiles 1846 quayside in Westport. The era of the coffin ship had begun. Profiles of ships and Mary Daly comments on emigration causes. Two and half million leave between 1845-55. Kelly on how shipping worked, the dread of Typhos, letter from 1847 emigrant on his journey to Quebec on poor food, overcrowding, six hundred on ship for four hundred. In 1840s a ticket was six pounds, Kelly explains, the letter explains the horrors of an emigrants journey. (Gerard Diagon's Diary), to Grosseille in Canada, Gerard died on the island, seventeen thousand died during the crossings, there's five thousand in Grosseille, Canada graveyard. British policy was to boost English speaking population in Canada so it kept fares low. British ships worst of all. The British wanted Ireland's poor to go to Canada not into England, but in England if not Ireland, they would be fed. English feared fabour and set their dogs on Irish. Piece from newspaper reports, three hundred thousand paupers go to Liverpool in 1847 Government schemes send three thousand Irish women to Australia as women were in short supply. British also (spring 1847) considered one and half million Catholics to Canada to set up Catholic Colony. Bishop of Derry, Dr Maginn's comments on this scheme are quoted, in anger, clergy however undecided on emigration. Kelly explains. Landlord schemes based on fact keeping a pauper in the workhouse cost twice what it cost to send him to Canada. Lord Palmerston, British Foreign Secretary condemning him. Nationalist Ireland opposed emigration, it wanted reasons for it changed. 1848 letters from America praise the results of going to America, offers Irish network and information and money. Mary Daly comments on the numbers involved. Nine million people emigrated over a large period of time, she explains her views with facts and figures. Comments on the depopulation of Ireland. Emigration takes the best statement is discussed by Mary Daly. In 1860 the Times is getting worried about the Celts growing strong in America and remembering seven hundred years of British misrule and causing problems for British interests.
